My journey to founding this platform began in November 2021, when I was diagnosed with fibroids and endometriosis. For a year, I struggled with symptoms like a hardened feeling in my lower abdomen, memory loss, lower back pain, and unexplained weight gain, despite maintaining an active lifestyle. Each visit to my primary care physician left me feeling unheard and dismissed, simply advised to eat healthier to lose weight. It was through a final appointment with that PCP that I stood up for my health concerns and was incorrectly diagnosed with PCOS.
Determined to find answers, I sought a second opinion, which led to an ultrasound and the correct diagnosis of fibroids. It was through my journey of consulting with multiple physicians that I realized a glaring gap in our healthcare system: the lack of a compassionate, understanding space for women, particularly those who look like me, to connect with culturally competent doctors who prioritize women’s wellness.
